The Savoy Gardens Hotel is part of the Savoy Group of Hotels and Resorts located in Madeira, Portugal. The hotel was thoroughly renovated in 2008 with the aim of making the property as sustainable as possible. • Supporting local business starts with their purchasing department, who give preference to suppliers who offer regional produce, as well as hiring local talents for musical entertainment for their guests
  • Supporting the local community through collaboration with the local hotel management school and other professional institutions, to offer work experience and training courses to students, as well as support a local rehabilitation centre, where they train and employ individuals to help reintegrate into the community

In addition, the Savoy Gardens Hotel is engaged in a number of other initiatives that support their sustainability commitments, including

  • During the refurbishment of the property, they used the opportunity to install energy and water saving devices
  • They have installed a droplet pipe system into the gardens which has reduced water consumption and only use organic fertilizer in their vegetable and herb garden
